Chris Menist is a musician doing Percussion and Electronics for the global touring Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band. Awkward Corners is an alias that started as a small project in Islamabad, where Chris was living at the time. Initial recordings were made with local musicians in Pakistan and then subsequently in Thailand. His unrivalled knowledge of Thai rarities led to curating widely acclaimed compilations on Soundway Records and Finders Keepers.

“Stay Down' was one of the first tracks I recorded using the Shahi Baaja. I was just getting used to the vibe of the instrument and wanted to make something simple, honest and heartfelt. The synth drone was the perfect foil to play against.”
